Supported by funding from the Beat Drugs Fund, the Hong Kong Elite Athletes Association will roll out a brand-new school outreach programme in the 2026/27 academic year. Through elite athletes and sports-related activities, the initiative promotes a healthy lifestyle and fosters positive habits, aiming to heighten students’ anti-drug awareness, enhance their self-esteem, and improve their mindsets and attitudes regarding drug trafficking.

Activity 1: Athletes Sharing Session

The Athletes Sharing Session highlights the parallels between doping in sports and substance abuse in daily life. By utilizing elite athlete as role models and featuring interactive presentations co-hosted with specialized anti-drug social workers, the program delivers anti-drug messages with far greater relatability and impact than traditional lectures.

Details:

  • Target Audience: Primary 3 to Primary 6 students, and Secondary students
  • Capacity: Approx. 300 participants per school
  • Format: In-person school session (Co-hosted by an elite athlete and a social worker)
  • Duration: 1.5 hours per school
  • Date: To be specified by the school

Remarks: Priority admission will be given to schools NOT currently enrolled in the “Healthy School Programme.”

Activity 2: Athletes Beat-Drug Companionship Training

“Athletes Beat-Drug Companionship Training” boosts students’ self-confidence, self-discipline, and resilience through interactive team sports training, sports psychology workshops, and an elite athlete mentorship program.

Details:

  • Target Audience: Primary 3–6 and Secondary students
  • Quota: Up to 20 students per school
  • Format: Complete 7-session program (11 hours total)

Remarks: Priority will be given to schools NOT currently enrolled in the “Healthy School Programme.”

Course Breakdown:

1. Team Sports Training (4 sessions | 1.5 hours per session)

Engaging team sports training designed to build confidence, discipline, and stress resilience, empowering students to firmly reject drugs when facing pressure or temptation.

Remarks: The specific sport item must be coordinated with the Association.

2. Mental Health Sports Workshop (2 sessions | 1 hour per session)

Leverages sports psychology to enhance mental fortitude and psychological skills, helping students make positive choices under stress and master practical strategies to resist peer pressure.

3. Elite Connect Session (1 session | 3 hours total)

Athletes host small-group, peer-style discussions to share insights on resilience, leadership, and healthy living. They guide students through personal goal-setting, empowering them to confidently promote a drug-free message in their communities.

Activity 2 Extension – Activity 3: Outing with Family

The “Outing with Family” is an extension of Activity 2, “Athletes Beat-Drug Companionship Training.” It is designed to enhance parents’ drug awareness and identification skills while reinforcing students’ understanding of the dangers of drug abuse.

Details:

  • Participants: Students participating in the “Anti-Drug Peer Leader Training” and their parents.
  • Content: Guided visits to the Jockey Club Drug InfoCentre or residential drug treatment and rehabilitation centres.
  • Key Objectives: Boost parents’ drug knowledge and ability to recognize warning signs, while deepening students’ awareness of the harms of drugs.

Remarks: Schools that express interest in participating in this extension activity will receive priority consideration for admission into this year’s programme.
